East County Leadership Council (ECLC) was formed as a nonprofit organization in 2018.
Our mission is to promote discussion of policy issues that relate to the quality of life in San Diego’s East County region.
In our first few years we put on non-partisan forums and roundtables to discuss issues such as housing and homelessness, economic development, city planning, water and education.
In 2021, emerging from the novelty of the COVID-19 pandemic, we commissioned an essay contest and have winning entries of COVID’s first year and a half, as seen through the eyes of local high school students, chronicled on our site and elsewhere.
In 2022, in addition to housing, education, water and planning, we plan to explore how we might improve opportunities in education, job training, and social services for East County.
